The Wife of the Chairman of Uyo Local Government Area, Mrs Akaninyene Uwemedimo, encouraged mothers to embrace healthy nutrition, exclusive breastfeeding, proper complementary feeding, and routine immunisation during the launch of the first round of the Optimised Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Week held in Uyo.
The campaign, supported by UNICEF and other health partners, promoted improved maternal and child health through essential healthcare services, nutrition education, vitamin supplementation, deworming, and routine immunisation.
Nursing and expectant mothers also received health talks and gift packs to support healthy living and child development.
