The exercise, held at QIC Government Model Primary School, Oku, Uyo, witnessed a significant turnout of party faithful who queued behind the candidacy of Pastor Umo Eno under the Option A-4 voting system.
Although Governor Eno contested unopposed, the Chairman of Uyo Local Government Area, Dr. Uwemedimo E. Udo, while addressing party members, described the exercise as a constitutional requirement of the party and an opportunity for members to publicly demonstrate their support for Pastor Umo Eno’s administration and second-term aspiration, which would see him govern from 2027 to 2031.
Speaking with newsmen shortly after the exercise, Dr. Udo said the people of Ward 11 came out “in their thousands” to endorse the governor in appreciation of what he described as his impactful leadership and developmental strides across Akwa Ibom State, particularly within Uyo Local Government Area.
“The people of Oku II Ward 11 have come out en masse to nominate Pastor Umo Eno for a second term because the Governor has done well for Akwa Ibom State and for Uyo Local Government Area. He transformed the ravine into a tourist attraction, and this model school where we are today is also one of the signature projects of Pastor Umo Eno,” he said.
The Akwa Ibom ALGON Chairman also commended the Political Leader of Uyo and Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, for his exemplary leadership, as well as stakeholders in the area for their support in ensuring the peaceful and successful conduct of the APC gubernatorial primary election, which culminated in the emergence of His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, as the party’s flag bearer for a second term in office.
Other stakeholders, including Hon. Harrison Godwin and Mrs. Uwem Eyo, noted that the impressive turnout witnessed in Ward 11 was not only an endorsement of Governor Eno’s leadership but also a demonstration of appreciation for his commitment to development and good governance.
The exercise, supervised by the Ward Returning Officer, John Nsikak, was adjudged peaceful, orderly, and well coordinated, and was attended by stakeholders, councillors, supervisors, aides of the Governor from Ward 11, as well as party faithful.
