‎The Uyo Local Government Youth Sensitisation Summit, held on April 30, 2026, at Angelo Hotel, brought together young people and key stakeholders to drive community development. With the theme “Harnessing the Youth Component for Community Service and Development,” the summit aimed to reawaken responsibility among youths and equip them with the values and skills for sustainable growth.

‎Participants focused on youth involvement in governance, entrepreneurship, and grassroots development, with a strong call for active participation in community-building efforts.

‎In his opening remarks, the Chairman, Dr Uwemedimo Udo, represented by the Council Secretary, Mr Ubong Udofia, stressed the need to protect public property and uphold responsible citizenship. He reminded the youths that government assets belong to them and must be preserved for the common good.

‎Security agencies—the Nigeria Police, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps—also addressed the gathering, warning against cultism, drug abuse, and vandalism, while encouraging vigilance and discipline.

‎The convener and Honourable Supervisor for Youth and Transportation, Mr Ubong Utang, thanked speakers and participants for their contributions. He urged youths to serve as ambassadors of peace, development, and environmental responsibility, while appreciating the support of the council leadership.

‎The summit was attended by members of the Legislative Council, led by the Leader, Hon. Ekemin Bassey, supervisors, youth leaders, and other stakeholders.
